~Dhdc 3 stitches- Decrease Half Double Crochet over next three stitches:
(I could not find a online reference so I hope my directions will explain--- Yarn over hook. Insert hook in next stitch. Yarn over hook and pull through stitch. “Stop.” Now--insert your hook in the next stitch, yarn over hook and pull through. Insert your hook in third stitch and pull through stitch. Complete Dhdc 3 stitches- yarn over hook and pull through all 5 loops on hook. You have now decreased 3 stitches into 1.)

Row One: Ch three-sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Ch two (counts as first HDC) Hdc 11 times in ring (12 Hdcs.)
Slip stitch to top of first Hdc to close row.
Chain two (do not turn, continue crocheting in the same direction.)

Row Two: Hdc in same st as ch two, Hdc two times in each remaining st.
(24 Hdc.) Sl st to top of ch 2.

Add Clam Shell Edging per directions above.

***Laces/Ties for optional version:
Lace One: Chain 35. Attach with Slip stitch to center Dc of right
side of first bootie. Chain 35, End.
Lace Two: Repeat for second booties, making sure to slip stitch on
left side so that when worn the ties are on the outside “side” of each bootie.
Weave the laces in and out of the Dc until the meet on opposite side
of booties and tie into a bow.

Little Pillows Hat

*The top corners of the hat will give the illusion of ears when on the head.

**The picture: The blue hat is written below.
The Purple hat used worsted weight yarn. No nose. Added ears (directions in my blog)
being careful not to sew them through to the back of the hat (just the front layer.)
The gray hat is adult size, using Half Double Crochet with a interspersed
Crossover Stitch (skip one hdc. hdc in next 2 stitches--then cross over with the third
stitch into the skipped stitch space.)

Notes:
*The hat directions written for Newborn size.
*Can be adjusted to any size-including
adult, by chaining “half” the length needed
to circle the wearers head.
(You will want the hat to be snug, so you will
want the starting chain a bit shorter than
your measurement.)

*You will be working on the outside of your
hat the entire time. Push your work at the
starting so that you are on the outside
(tuck the inside of the hat accordingly.)

*Use a crochet hook in the size that works
with your yarn--adjusting the size by measuring
the starting chain , and top-to-bottom length.

*If you do not plan on adding a nose and eyes--
continue row 2 & add rim, to desired length.

*Personalize by using different stitches in body
of hat.

Materials:
I used a *Boye size G crochet hook &
*Caron Simply Soft yarn in Soft Blue.
The eyes are Darice brand *Easy-Sew Eyes in 18mm,
and I used a *sewing needle to attach.
*Stitch marker (if you do not have stitch markers,
a piece of yarn , paper clip, or wire earring will work.)


Directions:
The ball I used to display is 21 inches around.
Chain 28 (my chain measured 7 inches.)

Row 1:
Double Crochet in the 3d chain from the hook
and in each remaining chain (26 Double Crochet)
Do not flip --instead turn the corner, working in the
reverse side of your starting chain, Double Crochet
in the 26 chain spaces. Place your stitch marker in the
last Double Crochet on your hook.

Row 2:
Double Crochet in each Double Crochet around, moving
stitch marker to last Double Crochet made when reaching
end of row.

Row 3-5:
Repeat Row 2.

Row 6: Choose the side you would like to be the front
of your hat.
Fold hat so that you know where the middle of the front is.
Double Crochet to the middle. In the middle chain do a
Popcorn stitch of 5 Double Crochet

Then continue in Double Crochet to end of row-
moving stitch marker to last Double Crochet on your hook.

At this time, take your sew-on-eyes and attach them on
the 5th row On each side of your nose. I attached mine
to the 4 Double Crochet measuring from the nose of either
side to insure they were evenly spaced.

If doing a larger or smaller hat--you will want to change the row and eye
position to comply with your hat size.

Row 7 - 11:
Repeat row 2 (my hat now measures 5 ½ inches.)

At end of row 11- slip stitch to the last Double Crochet
of row 10, chain 2 and place your stitch marker on the
chain 2.

top to bottom and 6 ½ inches from side to side.

(when crocheting a adult hat--use your ruler--top to bottom of
8 inches will be a good size so that when you pull in on the
corners give the illusion of ears.)

Sandyfroglegs Fingerless Gloves

Try on as you crochet and increase the

Materials:
Sock yarn
F/5-3.75MM Crochet hook
Stitch markers

Special Notes:
Leave a long enough tail after ch 32 (38), to sew first dc
row closed.
Slip stitch rows closed except rows 8-10 (12) which will be
used for the thumb space.
Crochet in same direction, except for the rows where
you turned to leave the thumb hole

Sea Creature Baby Bootie

Needs~
Size “G" Crochet hook.
Baby or Sport yarn
(I used Lion Brand Microspun in Turquoise.)
Large Eye needle for sewing heel.
Sew-on-eyes (or what you have on hand.)

(Chain 2 at end of each row, and turn to start next row).

Dc=Double Crochet. Sc=Single Crochet. Sl st=Slip Stitch.
Ch=Chain.
Fp=Front Post Stitch. Bp=Back Post Stitch.

To Start : Leave a tail of about 8 or so inches (for sewing the heel) and Ch 16. DC in third chain from hook. DC in each
remaining chain for a total of 14 DC. Chain 2 and turn.
(this counts as Row 1)

Row 1, 2 & 3 : DC through both loops for a total of 14 DC in
each row.
Row 4: Dc in back loops only of 14 dc.
Row 5: Dc through both loops of 14 dc.
Row 6: Dc in back loops only of 14 dc.
Row 7 & 8:DC through both loops for a total of 14 DC in
each row.

This will give you a little square with two rows of ridges which are the bottom of the bootie and the place to attach the sea creature tentacles. You will end at the opposite end that you started the square. (three rows per each side, two rows for the bottoms)
Step 1--Taking care to make sure the “ridges” are on the outside of your booties-Gather toe end by inserting the hook,
into the end of each DC row & draw a loop onto the hook.--
you will have 8 loops on the hook. Draw another loop, and
pull that loop through all 8 loops on the hook. then sl st this
tight (this gathers the toe and closes it)
Sc the two top sides of bootie together with 7 Sc
(from toe to middle of top of bootie.)


Step 2- While keeping your work on your hook,
Take a large eye needle - put your yarn tail
for the heel into the needle and stitch your heel closed, tie off.
Weave in/hide your yarn end.


Cuff:
Row 1 & 2: *Chain 2, Dc in each stitch around the bootie
ankle opening, and Sl st closed.
Row 3: Ch 2, *Fp dc around 1st dc. Bp dc around 2nd dc.
Repeat from *around cuff of bootie.
Tie off-weave/hide yarn ends.

Sea Creature tentacles (sorry--no directions for left hand.)
With heel in right hand, Slip stitch to ridge on bottom of bootie.
Sc in same stitch. *Sc and next 3 stitches on ridge (work through
two loops for strength).
Ch 8. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and next 2 ch. 3 sc in next ch. Sl
St in last 3 chains. Sl st is same st on ridge.
Repeat from * around foot (At the toe-work into the end of the 2 rows where there is no ridge to attach to) so that you have
Four legs/tentacle on each side of bootie.. Sc in last stitches and
tie off at end of ridge at heel. Weave/hide yarn ends.
Sew on your eyes on each side of bootie, just below cuff.

To make these into spiders--place eyes on either side of bootie, “near toe”instead of under cuff.

Wiggly eyes (or what you have on hand for eyes.)
Crochet hook size H/8-5.00MM for braid and Munchkin.

Now ch 4 (going down towards crotch.. Turn and sc in each
of the ch 3 back up towards waist band .
Slip stitch to 6th ch on waist band. Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each of the 3 ch going towards crotch again .
Sl st to crotch. Ch 4. Slip stitch to center on back of bottoms.
Look to front of Munchkin for direction, and slip stitch
across so that you are on the side of the bottoms that has not
been worked on front.
Continue slip stitching across the front edge of bottoms.
Sl st to front section , tie off and weave/hide ends.
Add your wiggly eyes (or your choice for creating the eyes.)
*My scanner squished the hair--the pattern will look like
braided hair.

Peirced Tongue Bookmark

Material List-
*G/6-4.25mm Crochet Hook
*(optional small crochet hook for attaching beads-if preferred you can string your beads
onto the tongue yarn before you start and work them into place where desired. Or sewing
thread and needle can also be used to attach beads for piercing)

*Worsted Weight yarn in colors desired for tongue and head.
(Very small amount needed of each.)

*Needle to sew on eyes (I used 12 mm sew on wiggly eyes.--use what you have on hand
for your eyes.)

*Tongue Piercing Bead or Beads. (or--an actual tongue piercing if using bookmark
to gift them to a friend.)

Abbreviations-
Ch-Chain
Sl st - Slip Stitch.
Sc- Single Crochet.
Hdc-Half Double Crochet
St - Stitch.


Directions-
Tongue~
With tongue yarn, Ch 50 (or length desired for “book mark”.)
Hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Hdc in next chain.

~Attach first bead. (I attach by working a Hdc with the G hook, then
just before catching the yarn to pull though the three loops I switched
to smaller hook (for me a B/1-2.25MM) put the bead onto the hook, then
pulled the yarn through the three loops to complete the Hdc.
(You can position the beads to the correct side of the tongue when done.)
(If sewing beads on-wait until end so you can position correctly.)
Hdc in next 2 spaces--(if desired add another bead/piercing.)
Hdc in remaining chains for the tongue length.
Tie off and weave/hide yarn ends.

Head~
Row 1~With yarn for the head, Ch 3, sl st into 1st ch to form ring
(hide yarn ends as you crochet.)
Row2~Ch 1-work 6 sc in ring, sl st to first sc (and pull that yarn
end tight to close the beginning circle.) (6 Sc.)
Row 3~Grab your tongue. Hold the end of the tongue that you tied off,
against your work. With tongue in front- Sc through right side edge of tongue
and in 1st sc of head circle. Sc through middle of tongue and into
second sc of head circle. Sc through left edge of the tongue and into the
3rd sc of head circle behind the tongue. Sc in each of remaining 3 sc of circle.
Sl st to 1st sc-ch one and turn.
Row 4~One sc in each of 6 sc-sl st to 1st sc. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 5~Hdc in the same space as ch 2.. 2 Hdc in each of remaining 5 sc.
Sl st to top of 1st Hdc. (12 Hdc.)
(your tongue should be hanging down in front of you)

Nose Row~
Row 6:~Working in same direction, Ch 2. Hdc in next 2 stitches.
(Nose : Popcorn stitch in next space by working 5 Hdc in the same
stitch, drop the loop from the hook and insert the hook from the front
into the top of the “first” of those 5 Hdc’s--catch a loop and pull it
through all of the stitches.)
